Clan MacDonell in the Military
MacDonell, an alternate spelling of MacDonald, was adopted in the
17th century. The MacDonells of Glengarry and of Keppoch both
descend from the First Lord of the Isles (MacDonald).
Clan MacDonell of Glengarry is an early division of Clan Ranald branch
of Clan MacDonald.
MacDonell of Keppoch (and of Garragach) were sometimes known as
Clan Ranald of Lochaber.
