INTRODUCTION The Network for Creative Change is dedicated to creative systemic change or whole system change. Whether at the individual level, the community, workplace or globally, systemic change can be measured as a shift in values, assumptions, beliefs, and by a new awareness and new behaviours which incorporate and reflect the shift in perspective. Systemic change occurs when we :: i) become aware of and understand systemic and ecological principles ii) become systems thinkers and adopt a systemic perspective iii) shift our thinking, life styles and organizational behaviours through grounding in systemic principles and values To assist in understanding systemic change we have chosen to provide a number of different approaches: Definitions - Three different authors help us to understand what the word "systemic" means. Quotes Quotes which allow us to see present global problems and potential solutions from the persepctive of systemic thinkers. Metaphors Metaphors assist in seeing the contrasts between the old mechanistic paradigm or world view and the new systemic world view through association with other concepts and visual images. Metaphors and images are important for understanding and communicating the concept of wholeness and the shift to a systemic perspective. Weblinks
Finally we leave the viewer to roam through the "whole systems change"
links to other websites and the links to "systemic thinkers" to gain a greater
understanding of this fascinating change process which can become all
consuming as we begin our journey into a very different future than many of
us envisioned even a decade ago. In particular visit the International Society
for Systems Sciences, ISSS,
"Wholeness" Seminar site which has over 50
papers devoted to systemic and holistic perspectives - theories,
philosophies, methods and practices.
