The International Systems Institute is a non-profit, public
benefit, scientific and educational agency. Organized as a community of
scholars and practitioners and a network of institutions, ISI aims to apply
systems and design thinking: 1. to create models and methods for the design
of educational and other human activity systems and 2. to design
and develop resources for systems and design learning. This website offers
a glossary of terms which assist in understanding "systemic change"

This website profiles Elisabet Sahtouris ,
American/Greek philosopher, biologist, ecologist, author, futurist,
adventurer, mother, grandmother, lecturer, UN consultant on indigenous
peoples and advisor to the Institute for Future Studies. Her Life Web offers
her entire book Earth Dance: Living Systems in Evolution , which provides
an integrated organic world view based on gaia and living systems. Also
available -an illuminating interview with Scott London, a paper she presented
at the UN on The Survival Path: Cooperation between Indigenous and Industrial
Humanity and other interpretations of Indigenous peoples of South America

thorough and excellent over view of the Gaia world view, along with references,
quotes, and links to text on Gaia by originator of the concept James
Lovelock.

"futures oriented". Here are a few examples. There are many more that are
designed for a certain purpose, but have "futures" material within the
subject. There are a few others that are specific organizations or commissions.
Some examples include the Millenium Institute, The 2050 Project (sustainability),
Project 2000, and The World Future Society. Probably one of the most useful
of all the websites listed here is that of the World Future Society.
With 30,000 members, the Society serves as a nonpartisan clearinghouse for ideas about the future, including forecasts, recommendations, scenarios, alternatives, and more. Founded in 1966, the Society publishes The Futurist, a bimonthly journal of forecasts, trends, and ideas about the future; Futures Research Quarterly, a scholarly journal for the professional futurist; and Future Survey, a monthly digest abstracting scores of future-oriented books, articles, and reports. The Society has also published over two dozen books on the future. The Society has held eight General Assemblies--meetings of futurists from around the world--and a number of specialized conferences, including "Business & The Future" and "The Global Economy."
