Raffia Vest:
A vest inspired by a variety of African raffia-cloth motifs, worked in the
round with steeks. The lower border is fringed to represent the raw edges
of raffia cloth, although the fringe is optional. The lower band may be
made wider (for those with generous hips) than the chest by adjusting the side panels of the charts. Size: Finished chest 44", 48", 52". Finished Hip 44" - 60", adjustable. The Emperor's New Vest A virtually invisible vest knit from thin air framed with a little yarn. Requires considerable crochet to properly secure the medallions of air! Size: One size fits most royal personages between 32" - 48", further enlargement details are given. Yarn: Ideal for DK /sport yarns with a little loft. The original pictured was worked with two skeins of Kimmet Croft 60 /40% wool/angora. A little contrast yarn will be needed to highlight the lacunae (holes)! Garden Path Vest
This is a challenging intarsia project, based on Edwardian garden paths! It features a trompe-de-l'oeil-ribbon band that runs ( apparently continuously ) around the vest front and also the armholes. Falling Leaves Vest
A flattering texturally patterned vest, begun at the lower point of each front. The fronts are worked separately up to the joining position at the back of the neck. The two pieces are then amalgamated and worked as one piece down to the lower edge. Each back point section is then worked in turn, to complete the back. Minimal finishing is required. Size: Finished Bust at given gauge 42 - 44" - adjustable by yarn and gauge. Yarn: 4 x 100g Shelridge Farm Sport weight wool, (100g = 250m/270yds). Techniques: Increases, decreases, yarn-overs.
