WELCOME TO NOVA SCOTIA
Dalhousie University Conference Centre is just a short bus ride away
downtown Halifax and its historic and vibrant waterfront and within
walking distance of the Halifax Citadel National Historic Park, the Museum
of Natural History, the famous Victorian Public Gardens and the trendy
shops of Spring Garden Road. Downtown enjoy the hustle and bustle of
historic properties, take a ferry ride across the busy harbour or visit
the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. This year an extra special event
coincides with the conference. From August 7-17, the streets wharves and
open spaces of downtown Halifax turn into stages and performance areas
for the 11th Annual International Buskers Festival with street performers
from all over the world.
Beyond Halifax, Nova Scotia offers supurb outdoor experiences such as
the wilderness and beauty of Kejimkujik National Park, Whale Watching in
the Bay of Fundy where Humpbacks and even Right Whales are summer
visitors. There's history everywhere; historic Annapolis Royal where
Canada's colonial history began; the whole town of Lunenburg, a
world heritage site, and Fortess Louisboug where you can step back into
18th century France.
Watch for details of 'A Maritime Sampler', a chance to bike, birdwatch,
browse or just stroll with someone from your host team.
Registrants using Dalhousie accommodations will have access to Dalplex
(the University's sports facility) which includes a swimming pool,
weight room, tennis courts, etc. Computer terminals with modems will
also be available for participants.
