Hypernews
Report by Ben Armstrong
- requires Perl 5.001m (at least) to run properly
- progress seems promising
- should get beta 5 distribution of Hypernews

Offline news/Mail
Report by Carlos Freitas
- promising info from a Manitoba freenet which uses CSuite (unofficially)
who is testing offline mail
- may be implemented on their end in a matter of weeks
- server side of QWK tested, seemed to be old and unreliable
- server side of SOUP tested, new and internet compliant
- YARN for DOS and TROPICAL for Windows yet to be considered

Custom Usernames

- two parts - front end for batchfile password updates and mkcustom - a
routine which renames accounts for approved custom login

Time Quotas

- development of routines to allocate and handle time quotas upon login
- time quotas can be used for variations from the standard 1 hour limit
- exceptions can be made for telnet users, IPs for example
- other ideas include a monthly quota, daily quota, smaller quota
during busier times of day
