Minutes:
Metro Community Access Network Society
Board of Directors Meeting
June 7, 1994
Duncan St. Halifax.  7:15-9:00pm

Attending:Kevin Nugent, Carlos Freitas, David Murdoch, Dave Towers,
David Trueman, Laura Jantek, Joan Brown-Hicks, Ellen Sherlock,
Renee Davis, Rand Cooper, Tony Lamport.

Agenda:  Laura asked that we add the seniors expo to the agenda.
     - Discovery center was added.
     - Novaknowledge was added.

Minutes, May 31: One item was corrected and the minutes were
accepted by consensus.

NSTN Contract:
Renee Davis passed copies around for study by board members.
Discussion followed and several suggestions for corrections were made and 
approved by the board.  A motion was made by Ellen Sherlock, seconded by 
Carlos Freitas, "To submit the amended agreement to Michael Martineau and 
NSTN and, upon approval by Michael Martineau and NSTN, to authorize the co-
chairs of the society to sign the agreement and the Standard NSTN 
subscriber agreement on behalf of the board."

The motion passed 11-0 with no dissenting votes being cast.  The
only one not voting was Peter Henry who was absent.

Dave Towers will contact a lawyer to look over the agreement for
us.

At this point we all acknowledged that the step being taken with
this contract brought certain potential liabilities to each board
member in the event of financial difficulties during the term of
the agreement.

Novaknowledge:  Some time slots still need to be filled.  A tv/vcr
is requested so that the video can be shown.

The board has been invited to Marion Pape's home following the
final session at the assembly to meet with the board of
Novaknowledge.

Launch: Ellen suggested that we do a public demo at the library on
the fifteenth.  It will run from 7pm till 9pm.
Tasks associated with this demo will be handled as such:
Tony - Accept volunteers.
David Trueman - System setup
Ellen - Contact media
Carlos - Contact and accept IP's.
Dave Towers - Man the membership table.

Economic Renewal Agency/Cape Breton:  Tony discussed the proper way
to inquire about imminent decisions regarding funding.

Cable: The proposal is ready to send.  The site for the PAT at the
library has been chosen.

Kevin Crick has asked to be in on the tech. aspect of the system. 
He'll be instructed to contact David Trueman or Gerard M.

Senior's Expo: coming up on July 16.

Next meeting will be next Tuesday at 7:15 at Joan's new pad.
Directions were given out.

People were invited to express interest in attending the Culturenet
event Tuesday the 14th at Nova Scotia Art Gallery.
