No fundraising committee existed in 1997. Changes on the Board meant that there was no person with the capabilities or interest to actively pursue this important area. However, there was some quite successful activity.
In September, in an effort to strengthen our financial position, I asked all members to contribute to a new equipment drive. Past and present Board members contributed over $4000 and members contributed another $5000. As well, we revised the membership categories and made it possible for those interested to make larger contributions.
With the addition of Sharon Parker to the Board in late 1997 and the hiring of a part-time development person, I expect we will have a significant fundraising program in place in mid-1998.
