Low-Tech Knitting Aids

My favourite non-knit equipment for knitting is :

Toilet roll tubes, for centre pull balls and as a spacing arrangement for my swift when winding wool from a cone onto the swift to make up my shawl kits.
A bra, the best storage place yet for a cable needle, best in Summer with low-necked T-shirts!
A music stand for comfortable pattern support.
A walkman and a book on tape, to read to me whilst I knit. Quite heavenly!
Pencil sharpener for emergency tip replacement on wooden or plastic needles.
Bag of stationery labels for labelling my swatches.
A sheet of Styrofoam (intended for basement insulation), which serves as my blocking board.
